The
Mahendra Educational Trust
was founded by Sri. M.G. Bharath
Kumar, a renowned educationist
with an object of imparting
high standard of education
to the rural children. The
trust is located at Kallippatti
a mid-way between Salem and
Tiruchengode. Thiru. M.G.
Bharath Kumar, the Chairman
of the trust is assisted by
the governing and advisory
councils in matters of policy,
mission, development and planning
for the continual improvements
in imparting higher education.
Mrs. B. Valliyammal Bharath
Kumar, best teacher awardee
is the Secretary of the trust.
Mr. Ba. Mahendhiran, a young
and dynamic engineer, is the
Managing Director.
The
Trust lays stress in giving
quality education and high
degree of discipline to the
students. In deference to
the wishes of the elite and
the common of Tiruchengode,
Namakkal and Salem city, the
trust started several schools
and colleges.
The
institutions functioning under
the Trust are two Engineering
Colleges, four Teacher Training
Institutes, two State Board
Schools, three Matriculation
Schools, an Arts & Science
College, a Polytechnic College
and four College of Education.
The trust has a unique goal
- transfer of knowledge -
"A stimulant for the
teacher and the taught"
- which is made possible by
the crew all through the years.
The
Mahendra Arts & Science
College affiliated to Periyar
University is well equipped
with all the needed facilities
and equipments. It has well
established library with around
20,000 volumes, laboratories
with sophisticated equipments,
spacious playgrounds, transport
and above all well qualified
staff members dedicated to
impart a high standard of
education to the rural community.
There
are 13 Under Graduate programmes,
11 Post Graduate programmes
and five departments recognized
as Research Departments by
the Annamalai, Periyar and
Bharathidasan Universities.
The present Principal Dr.
P. Rajamanickam, an eminent
personality, awardee of Jewel
of India and eminent citizen
of India with gold medal and
recipient of the Tamil Nadu
Government Chief Minister's
award for writing the best
book in Chemistry in Tamil.
The College is an ISO 9001:2000
certified institution marching
towards accreditation by the
NAAC.
Added
to the motto of the College,
"Motive, Action and Service"
- the Twinning Programme which
is a joint venture of Annamalai
University and the College
