| 1. Inception |
| Annamalai University was accredited by NAAC in April 2000. The Peer Team that visited the University was in appreciation of the various academic activities of the University in terms of teaching, research and extension. As suggested by NAAC the University constituted the IQAC with a Quality Advisory Committee, since 2002. The composition is as per the NAAC guidelines, with the Vice-Chancellor as Chair person. |

The prime task of the IQAC is to develop a system for conscious, consistent and catalytic improvement in the performance of the institution. It is a facilitative and participative voluntary system, for quality enhancement by introducing suitable intervention strategies. |

| 3. IQAC in Action |
| The IQAC meets periodically to deliberate, review, and revise the various processes involved in the re-accreditation process. The Vice-Chancellor convenes IQAC meeting at regular intervals to ensure the steady working of the IQAC and gives constructive and progressive suggestions towards attaining high quality in teaching, research and community extension services of the University. |

In the meetings of the Heads of Departments the Vice-Chancellor instructs them as to the need for quality enhancement at all levels. The Deans of various Faculties are asked to develop quality benchmarks in the following activities. |
* Technical upgradation comprising the activities of teaching and research besides the University administration.
* Nurturing global competencies among students.
* Higher value orientation in education.

As per the direction of NAAC, the University IQAC is submitting the Annual Quality Assurance Reports (AQAR) for every academic years. So periodically the various study Departments are asked to furnish inputs on their various activities-teaching, research, and extension. The Vice-Chancellor (Chairman, IQAC) informs the Deans to identify the strengths and weaknesses, of their respective faculties. As per the direction of UGC, IQAC is collecting and maintaining yearly record of Performance based Appraisal Report of the teachers.
Thus IQAC helps in planning and monitoring the academic activities of our University.
Its multi-disciplinary activities expose the students and teacher to new frontier of knowledge thereby strengthening the moral fibre of the institution to holistic development. |
